During this horses and heritage tour, you get to know many interesting facts about the role the horse played for the settlement in Iceland and how horses have been kept and used in the old days.
Join this Iceland horse riding tour and visit the Old Stable, a lovely reconstructed horse stable made from turf. Experience the atmosphere between the damp turf walls and listen to stories about horses and men in the past. Get to know how turf houses were built and why there are only a few of them left. The turf buildings at the farm are a true masterpiece of on old handcraft.
Afterwards you will join a short horse riding tour (40 to 60 minutes) and at the end, everybody is invited to enjoy coffee, tea, and some homemade pastry. This horse & heritage visit is an ideal choice for anyone who wants to find out more about the Icelandic horses and its strong bonds with the people of Iceland. Riding skills are not necessary for the riding tour but we prefer to get information about the previous riding experience. Children are welcome, the minimum age for taking part in the ride is 6 years. Younger children can be lead on a horse.
