Welcome to your romantic Iceland tour. After your arrival, you will be transferred from the international airport to Reykjavik where you have time to explore the capital of Iceland. Reykjavik is with 120,000 inhabitants a relatively small city and all highlights in the city center are within walking distance. We highly recommend visiting the Hallgrímskirkja church, the music hall Harpa and the old harbour in the city center. Reykjavik has also many interesting museums. We recommend visiting the Northern Lights Centre, the Saga Museum or the Marine Museum. In the evening we recommend enjoying a delicious dinner at one of Reykjavík many gourmet restaurants. Spend your first night in Iceland in a comfortable apartment in the city center.
In the morning you receive your rental car. You have a full day to explore the famous Golden Circle. First of all, you will visit the National Park Þingvellir which is part of a fissure zone running through Iceland, being situated on the tectonic plate boundaries of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Here you can take a walk between continents and see the earliest assembly grounds of Iceland’s parliament. Furthermore, you will visit the famous geyser “Strokkur” and the “golden waterfall” Gullfoss. For the next 3 nights, you will stay in a romantic cottage in the Golden Circle area. The cottage is very cozy and ideal for a romantic holiday. Chances are high to see Northern Lights in the evening.
Today you will have a relaxed day in the countryside. Most noteworthy are the charming swimming pools in the area and we highly recommend to visit one of them. Option 1 is the Laugarvatn Fontana geothermal baths where you can relax in the warm geothermal pools and natural steam rooms. Another option is the Secret Lagoon in Fluðir. This is actually the oldest swimming pool in Iceland. And if you are looking for some more adventure we can also organize a snowmobiling tour for you on Langjökull glacier. From Gullfoss waterfall you will get a drive in a super truck to the camp on the glacier which is an experience you will never forget. On the second largest glacier of Europe you will have a fantastic snowmobiling adventure for 1 hour.
Today you will explore the beautiful South coast of Iceland. Highlights of the day will be definitely the charming waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. You will also visit Vík where we recommend a stop at the black beaches. There you can enjoy the fantastic views of the Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar rock formations. You also have the opportunity to join a guided glacier walk on Mýrdalsjökull (optional). In the afternoon you drive back to your cottage where you will stay for a third night. Enjoy your last evening in the cottage and do not forget to look for the magic Northern Lights.
Enjoy your last full day in Iceland at the volcanic wonderland of Reykjanes Peninsula. Here you have the chance to visit the geothermal area in Krýsuvik with boiling mud pools and colorful mountains. A well-maintained path winds through the bubbling and hissing field and information boards explain the geology of the geothermal area. In the afternoon you will visit the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa. It is surrounded by surreal black lava formations. Relax in the warm milky-blue water and take advantage of the saunas, steam baths and the Blue Lagoon waterfall. Drive back to Reykjavik in the evening. You drop-off your rental car and stay the night in a comfortable apartment in the center.
It is time to return home after some wonderful days in Iceland. Transfer from your apartment in Reykjavik to Keflavík International airport. If your flight is in the afternoon we recommend to have a relaxed breakfast in one of the cozy cafes in Reykjavik. You should also look for some nice souvenirs in the city center.
