Frequently asked questions
Find answers to your questions about our tours and travel experiences in Iceland and beyond.
Can the itinerary be customized?
Yes! This itinerary can be adjusted in consultation with your travel consultant before departure. Interested in adding a Snæfellsnes Peninsula day? Prefer different attractions or activities on any of the touring days? Want to add extra days in Reykjavík for additional exploration? Your travel consultant will work with you to create the perfect itinerary while your driver-guide can make minor adjustments during tours based on weather and your preferences.
How long are the daily tours?
Daily tours vary in length. The Golden Circle tour is approximately 6-8 hours, the Reykjanes Peninsula and Blue Lagoon tour is approximately 5-6 hours (with relaxation time at the Blue Lagoon), and the South Coast tour is a full day of approximately 10 hours due to the greater distances involved. All tours include regular stops for photos, meals, and rest breaks. Your driver-guide ensures you return to Reykjavík at a reasonable hour each evening.
Can I add a northern lights tour if I'm traveling in winter?
Yes! If you're traveling between September and April, you can add a private northern lights tour to your itinerary. Your travel consultant can arrange evening northern lights excursions with a private guide who will take you away from city lights to maximize your chances of witnessing the aurora borealis. These private tours offer flexibility in timing and location based on weather and aurora forecasts, and can be added to one or multiple evenings during your stay.
What are the advantages of day tours from Reykjavík with a private driver-guide?
Private day tours from Reykjavík offer the perfect balance of exploration and comfort. Your driver-guide handles all navigation and driving, sharing expert knowledge throughout each journey. You'll visit Iceland's most celebrated attractions without the stress of unfamiliar roads or changing accommodations. The private setting allows you to set your own pace, take photography breaks whenever you want, and ask questions freely. After each day's adventure, you return to the comfort and amenities of Reykjavík.
Why stay in Reykjavík for all nights instead of traveling around Iceland?
Staying in Reykjavík throughout your tour offers several advantages. You'll unpack once and settle into your accommodation without the hassle of changing hotels daily. Reykjavík provides excellent restaurant options, vibrant nightlife, and cultural attractions to enjoy in your free time. The day tour format means you travel with just a daypack rather than all your luggage, and you can leave purchases or extra items at your hotel. This setup is ideal for travelers who value comfort and convenience while still experiencing Iceland's major highlights.
Can the itinerary be adjusted to spend more time in certain areas?
Yes! This itinerary can be customized in consultation with your travel consultant before departure. Want an extra day at Jökulsárlón for more glacier activities? Prefer to skip the Reykjanes Peninsula on Day 6? Interested in adding visits to additional waterfalls or attractions? Your travel consultant will work with you to create an itinerary that matches your interests while your driver-guide can make minor adjustments during the tour based on weather and your preferences.
